Hi! I’m Sherri Ottis, also known as Neena. In a nutshell, Neena Treasures came to be because I learned to quilt. Like most new quilters, I made one for
nearly every member of the family and my close friends. I was having a great time trying new patterns and learning new techniques. I loved my new hobby and
even better, I loved sharing this interest with my daughter.
I retired from teaching in 2024 and suddenly I had so much more time to quilt! I was churning out quilts right and left! I was having so much fun that I just
couldn’t stop. The problem was that I preferred to hand quilt which took a while. As a result, I had about a huge stack of quilt tops waiting to be quilted. A
sweet friend let me use her long arm machine to speed things along, but, unfortunately, she lives two states away which was not too convenient. Have you ever
tried to long arm 18 quilts in three days? Arrrrgh! My aching back!!
There was only one solution… I needed my own long arm machine. And so, Lindy the long-arm moved into the spare bedroom. I still enjoy hand quilting, but now I
limit it to smaller quilts which fit easily in my lap
I rented a booth at a local boutique mall, The Peppy Peddler, in Clinton, MS and started selling my quilts. I love quilting and hope you’ll all be inspired by the quilts I make/create.
Where did the name “Neena Treasures” come from?
Seven of my greatest treasures are my grandchildren – Betsy Cate, Charlie, Anna Jane, Mary Ella, Henry, Sam, and Elizabeth. They call me Neena. My shop is
named for them.
